Belay Devices
Belay devices attach to the harness, and sometimes the harness is anchored to the ground with a lanyard. Belay devices are useful in ziplines if someone is operating a braking system at the end of the run. The belay device will allow rope to run through it, but can be stopped by the belayer. A belay device can alternately be used as descenders by controlling the flow of rope while walking backwards down a steep face.
